Failure symptoms
Typical ASCO faults.
- Controller display dead, frozen or showing a fault it won't clear
- Switch won't retransfer to utility after the outage ends
- Solenoid or operator hums, buzzes or burns out
- Pitted, burned or welded main contacts found on inspection
- Exerciser runs but the load never actually transfers
- Replacement controller or parts are discontinued or slow to source
Replace or retrofit
Your ASCO switch.
Older ASCO 940 and early 7000-series switches are often good mechanically but run on controllers that are hard to support. We look at the power section first. If the contacts and operator are sound, a controller retrofit can buy years. If the frame is cooked or the switch can't meet today's withstand rating, a full replacement sized to your service is the better spend.

Questions
ASCO answers.
Do you repair ASCO transfer switches?
Yes. We troubleshoot and repair ASCO automatic transfer switches, and replace them when repair doesn't make sense. We're an independent service company, not a factory-authorized ASCO dealer.
